The armed conflict in Colombia: Memory, territory and resistance
Beginner Level
We will explore Bogotá with a profound and sensitive perspective, recognizing it as a living territory of memories and resistance.
We will see how it has been the stage for mobilizations, violence, and hope, and how today it reflects the diversity, the struggle for rights, and the yearning for peace of the Colombian people.
This experience links memory, culture, and territory: Just as water and biodiversity are protected in the highlands and mountains, the city safeguards the collective memory and dignity of its communities. Thus, the journey becomes a starting point for understanding the country in its complexity and delving with greater sensitivity into its ecosystems and natural landscapes.
- This urban tour begins with hotel pick-up. We will then visit Quinta de Bolívar, a place steeped in history that connects to the processes of independence and nation-building.
- Afterward, we will arrive at the Gold Museum, where ancestral knowledge and the spiritual relationship of the indigenous peoples with nature are recognized.
- Next, we will walk through the historic center of Bogotá, exploring the La Candelaria neighborhood, the Jorge Eliecer Gaitán monument, and Plaza de Bolívar, all vibrant spaces of resistance and culture.
- Finally, we will stop at Café Nuestra Herencia and make a brief visit to Doris Ortiz's artisan workshop, concluding at Casa de la Paz (La Trocha), a community space led by signatories of the Peace Agreement that reinterprets the conflict through art, entrepreneurship, and collective memory.
